The Install Process, Step by Step

Site walk and load analysis
We measure your actual demand rather than adding up nameplate ratings. Getting this wrong is the single most common failure we are called out to fix.

Gas or fuel plan
For gas units we verify the meter and line can carry the additional load. An undersized gas line will starve the engine at exactly the moment you need it.

Pad and placement
We set the pad, confirm clearances, and check the unit is above the local flood elevation. In parts of Harris County that last item is not optional.

Permit and plan review
The City of Houston has enforced the 2023 National Electrical Code since September 1, 2023. We file the permit and coordinate the inspection.

Where the Code Actually Matters
Commercial standby is not one category under the National Electrical Code. It is three, and they carry different requirements. Which article your project falls under changes the wiring method, the testing regime and the paperwork. We identify that at the site walk, not after the inspector arrives.

Do I need a permit for a commercial generator in Houston?
