What a certified installer changes

Any licensed electrician can land a 240 volt circuit. Certification covers the part that is specific to the equipment. Tesla trains and verifies Certified Installers on Wall Connector mounting, wiring, firmware commissioning and Wi-Fi setup, so the charger is configured properly before the crew leaves your driveway.

RBG Services LLC is a Tesla Energy Certified Installer for the Tesla Wall Connector. We have been doing electrical work in Houston since 1991 under Texas electrical contractor licence TECL #38858, and Jeff Fyke, our master electrician and project manager, holds the certification along with ICC residential electrical inspector credentials.

What is included

Load calculation first

A 48 amp Wall Connector needs a dedicated 60 amp circuit running continuously. We calculate your home total demand before anything is ordered, so the charger does not trip your main breaker the moment the air conditioning starts.

Permit filed and inspected

Houston, Katy and Harris County all require an electrical permit for a new dedicated 240 volt circuit. We file it, meet the inspector and close it out. You do not deal with the municipality.

Mounted and commissioned

Indoor or outdoor mount, conduit run and secured, conductors sized and up gauged for the run length, every termination torqued to spec, then firmware commissioning and Wi-Fi setup so the unit reports into your Tesla app.

Power sharing configured

Two or more Wall Connectors can share one circuit. We configure power sharing during commissioning rather than leaving you to sort it out later or booking a second visit.

Panel work when it is needed

If your service cannot carry the load, we handle the sub panel or the panel upgrade as part of the same job instead of handing you off to someone else.

Cleanup included

We finish the job, clean the work area and walk you through how the unit operates before we leave.

What Houston homes run into

Houses across Spring Branch, Oak Forest and the older parts of West Houston were wired long before anyone charged a car at home. A 150 amp panel that already carries central air, an electric range and a pool pump has very little headroom left. That is the single most common reason a Wall Connector job turns into a panel conversation.

Newer master planned neighbourhoods in Katy and Cypress usually have a 200 amp service and more room to work with, though the garage is often a long conduit run from the panel. Length matters, because voltage drop over a long run means the conductors get up gauged. We measure the run rather than guessing at it.

Texas heat is the other factor. Summer peak load in Houston lands in the late afternoon, which is exactly when most people plug in after work. Sizing the circuit for that worst case is what keeps the breaker from tripping in August.

How the job runs

It starts with a site visit. We look at the panel, the meter, where you park and where the charger needs to land, then measure the conduit run. That visit is where the load calculation gets done and where you find out whether the existing service carries the charger or needs work first.

You get a written quote covering the circuit, the conductors, the mount, the permit and the commissioning. The price on that quote is the price you pay. There is no mandatory inspection fee and no second visit invented halfway through.

On install day the crew pulls the circuit, mounts the unit, terminates and torques every connection, then commissions the charger and connects it to your Wi-Fi so it reports into the Tesla app. We test it with your vehicle before we pack up, walk you through the app, and close the permit with the inspector.

Common questions

Can my panel handle a Wall Connector?

Often yes. Sometimes only after a sub panel or a service upgrade. The load calculation answers it before you commit to anything, and we tell you the answer either way.

Do I need a permit?

Yes. Any new dedicated 240 volt circuit needs an electrical permit in Houston, Katy and across Harris County. We file it and handle the inspection.

How long does the install take?

A straightforward install is usually one day. A panel upgrade adds time because of the permit and the utility coordination.

Can you install two Wall Connectors?

Yes. Multiple units share a single circuit through power sharing, which we configure while we are on site.

Hardwired or a NEMA 14-50 outlet?

Hardwiring the Wall Connector gives you the full 48 amp charge rate. A 14-50 outlet caps you lower but suits a renter or anyone who wants to take the unit along later.

Do you work outside Houston?

Yes. We cover Katy, Cypress, Spring, Tomball, Sugar Land and the surrounding area.
